Rastamouse Branded “No Better Than The New Sambo – Golliwog In Drag”

Image
Levi Roots, Benjamin Zephaniah and psychologist Delroy Constantine-Simms all have their say on CBeebies sensation Rastamouse. It’s hard to keep up with all the Rastamouse controversy, we reported earlier this week that the show had already garnered a combined 101 complaints and now high-profile Rastafarians have been giving their opinion on the show with Reggae Reggae Sauce founder Levi Roots saying he doesn’t support the use of a mouse to represent his culture “I was asked to do the voice of the mouse, but I said no. I am a Rastafarian and I wouldn’t want to portray a Rastafarian as a mouse. For me it is about integrity.” he told The Mirror “I’d never portray a Rasta as a pig or a mouse as I don’t think the values of being a Rasta are served by that. If it was a lion that would be very different, a lion is strong symbol in Rastafarianism.” continuing “Personally, I do not support this representation of us. But we do need representation on TV and as this is the first it should be given

Poem: ReBirth

Image
ReBirth Darkness falls, bringing forth a defusing twilight, Light subsides on the horizon what was once a sky bright, Surrounded by morose faces all I see in my sight, I've travelled far so many places wasted years in hindsight, I've wept for those who've suffered long existing in designed strife, Money was my only mission wishing for the high life, My intuition through persistence to main event & highlight, Reached new ambitions, now I'm fixing to straighten up and fly right, And now I look towards the sky as it begins to shine bright, Perfect calm of nothingness in ear shot or an eye sight, A new beginning where to start just picturing where I might, Oh where shall sweet time take me now that once again I'm childlike. -Fonzo

Poem - Dear, dear!

Dear, dear! It seems like an eternity since you've been gone, Feels like eons since we last spoke, I don't know why I'm still holding on, But somewhere inside I conjure up hope, Is everyone laughing as if I'm a joke? A question I have to ask, Did my persistence bring forth division and hinder a beautiful path, Consumed by my loyalty, Consumed by my heart, It's hard to think that you & me could end from our start, In my world you mean so much, Can't find no-one like you, And no-one else will ever love you quite the way I do. 143

Poem: Sorry

Image
Sorry I'm sorry I treated you with respect, I guess that weren't enough, I'm sorry that I showed restraint, When times got really tough, I'm sorry I have loyalty, I guess that makes me weak, I'm sorry when temptation came that I refused to cheat, I'm sorry that I valued you, I'm sorry that I cared, I'm sorry I was here for you when no-one else was there, I'm sorry for my honesty, Should I have lied instead? I'm sorry I refused to think that chivalry was dead, I'm sorry that I kept it real, When others was so fake, I'm sorry that I hugged you close, And made you feel so safe, I'm sorry for my kindness, Being loving as can be, I'm sorry that it weren't enough, To keep you hear with me.

Friends said he passed away peacefully in hospital in Shropshire yesterday having suffered from cancer for some time. Postlethwaite was once described by the film director Steven Spielberg as "probably the best actor in the world today". He worked with Spielberg on two films in 1997 – the fantasy adventure film The Lost World: Jurrassic Park, and Amistad, about a slave mutiny on a ship. The craggy-featured actor received an Oscar nomination for his performance as Guiseppe Conlon in the 1993 film In The Name Of The Father, about the wrongful convictions of the Guildford Four. His notable films included the 1996 film Brassed Off, in which he played the leader of colliery band in a Yorkshire community devastated by mine closures. The film wa
