Gary Dobson and David Norris both deny murder The trial of two men accused of murdering black teenager Stephen Lawrence 18 years ago has begun in front of an Old Bailey jury. The eight men and four women who will hear the case against Gary Dobson, 36, and David Norris, 35, both of south London, were chosen from a panel of 24. Meanwhile, prosecutor Mark Ellison QC has begun outlining his case. Stephen, 18, was stabbed to death by a gang of white youths in Eltham, south-east London, on 22 April 1993. Mr Ellison QC began his opening statement by handing jurors a map of Eltham, where the A-level student was killed at a bus stop. On Monday, trial judge Mr Justice Treacy said new scientific evidence will be central. Inquiry as man, 25, dies after he was pepper-sprayed and arrested by 'ELEVEN officers' By Rob Cooper A 25-year-old man collapsed and died after being overpowered with CS spray as he was being arrested by up to eleven police officers. Jacob Michael was sprayed in the face inside his home in the Widnes area of Cheshire, but managed to flee officers before being brought down on a verge 30 metres away. He was taken to a police station where he suddenly became unwell and was rushed to hospital by ambulance. He was pronounced dead two hours later. Today police watchdog the Independent Police Complaints Commission confirmed it had begun an investigation into Monday's incident. Tests are due to be carried out into how Michael died. Here is my report of The Campaign 4 Justice 4 Kingsley Burrell March DATE: Saturday July 2nd 2011 TIME: 12 noon STARTING POINT: Abbey Street, Winson Green, Hockley, B18 5QS FINISHING POINT AND RALLY AT: West Midlands Police HQ, Lloyd House, Colmore Circus, Queensway, Birmingham, B4 6NQ ROUTE: Assemble in Abbey Street from 12 noon, to march for 1pm, then walk on past the Seacole mental health unit in Winson Green, where Kingsley was taken, then on to Bolton Road, Soho Road and into the city centr e to Lloyd House, the headquarters of West Midlands police. Kingsley died in extremely suspicious circumstances in Birmingham. It is reported that Kingsley called the police after he tried to talk to a group of young people who were intimidating him and his 5 year old son.
