News: Police respond to reports of man with gun in Aston supermarket

POLICE in Birmingham are responding to reports of a man in possession of a gun at a Tesco supermarket in Aston.

Police were alerted to the incident just after 8.30am this morning by staff reporting a man behaving aggressively inside the store.

As a precaution, the store has been evacuated and roads around the area closed. At this time, no weapon has been seen by either police officers or independent witnesses. No injuries have been reported. In addition to local officers, armed police are at the scene and the man is contained within the store.

Traffic diversions are in place and members of the public are advised to avoid the area. Roads affected are: Aston Lane, Wenlock Road, Witton Road, Emscote Road
